| This Game is meant for older campers. Decide for yourself if it is appropriate for your younger campers or not. | |
| Required: | An identical set of items for each team. box or backpack, flashlight, sleeping bag, big rock, hat, whistle, pencil, ... anything at all ranging in different sizes and weights. Just make sure that a person will be able to carry the entire load. |
| Preparation: | Put all items for each team in separate piles on the ground about 40 feet from the start line. |
| Notes: | It may be beneficial to reflect on how choosing items intelligently may reduce the amount of work required and the ease with which items are transported. |
| Instructions: | Teams line up at start line. On 'GO' signal, team leader runs to pile and chooses one item to bring back. The team leader also must choose the name of one item to tell to the next camper. When the team leader returns, he hands what he has to the next camper and tells that camper the name of the item to be picked up. Each camper runs to the pile, picks up the item they were told and adds it to their load. They then choose the name of another item to tell the next camper to pick up. This continues until a team returns with all their items to the starting line. If an item is dropped, the camper has to return to retrieve it. A returning camper should not talk to anyone except the next camper in line. |
